Itsy Bitsy Spider...NOT!!

Did you know spider's eyes reflect against light like an animal? I did not either really ......well I never really thought about it......till I saw this guy spinning a web outside my garage door up high.....and snapped some shots.......I am so thankful they do not appear this way with our naked eye....I would be squealing and jumping around all the time!













I HOPE she is not preparing an egg sack to lay eggs!

Harvest moon from last night.....it was gorgeous!

Noah and I stopped at the park yesterday......and we saw this......

He was all by himself.......and was hungry because he came to fish!




He got down into the water and began scoping out the possibilities. While sitting in the truck watching him.....and snapping away......he caught and ate at least 5 different fish.

They pose very much like a pointer dog before grabbing their catch!

I was talking at this point to the crane asking him to spread his wings.......he never did do that but he did stretch up really nice and tall for me......

and of course I zoomed in for a close-up of his legs and feet.......they were huge.....

MACRO MANTIS.......

I happened to notice a praying mantis on one of my front windows so I grabbed my camera and snapped a few up close and personal.

photography....it appears to be a "family" thing.....

ANY time we have a get together in the family I have noticed over the years the NUMBER of cameras that also make their appearance. Yesterday we had a belated birthday celebration for my nephew at my parent's house and I swear any time a KODAK moment occurred it was like the paparazzi arrived on the scene! You could hear cameras being whipped out and see flashes going off and yells for "WAIT.....pose like that again!" or "shit I missed it!" tossed out among family members. It was actually pretty amusing and yesterday I decided to turn around and try to quickly capture a shot of what it looks like on the receiving end......I mean there were at least SIX cameras focused on the subject at any given time! NO chance for privacy in this family!

Almost on cue........just like what you see on tv when a movie star makes an appearance.......the cameras fly out and we scramble for the top position to capture the best shot.

Saturday in my parents' backyard....

We had a get together on Saturday and I always take my camera so I stole a few moments and stepped outside to see if I could capture a few shots of something. I had noticed many butterflies flying around......and a lot of Monarch butterflies which I had not been able to capture any photographs of yet this year......so I set my sights on those. I had no idea on shots I thought I got nothing......I managed to capture them flying to the butterfly bushes. Here is one of those shots......but I ended up with a few like this......some with a couple of butterflies flying...




Here are a few shots of the Monarchs......they were beautiful. Simply gorgeous. AND a couple of the Monarchs looked very fresh and new......no imperfections seen on their wings or bodies...







This guy must have been a little bit older....his wings were a little more scruffy...

The butterflies and moths all shared the nectar.........sometimes there were 3-4 flying around on the same flowers....




SO I had to capture a MACRO of those different kinds as well! Have I mentioned I LOVE macro mode?
