Gorgeous sunset out my back window!!

We have been having some gorgeous sunrises and sunsets the past couple of days. This sunset was January 1.....have you noticed it is staying daylight a little longer at night?

I tried to take a shot of one of the most gorgeous sunsets as the big sun came down and looked like it was sitting right on the tracks...but my camera, while capturing it, in color made it look all purple and pink, not the true reddish orange it was. It had a big glare...so I turned it into black and white. I think it looks better, but, it was so beautiful in color and I wish there was some way I could have captured it! BUT here is the BW version.....

I wish I had time to jump in the car and drive to an open area to capture better shots.  I happened to look outside my back window when I was talking on the phone and saw the sky lit up with the most amazing colors...I knew it would be a gorgeous sunset.  We have had a couple of these the last few days..they are spectacular to watch but they go very fast...changing in colors before disappearing altogether over the horizon or behind clouds.  These are not ideal shots as I snapped them through my window....but this gives you an idea of what I saw.....

 

 

Skywatch Friday........

This was the sunset through my kitchen window Wednesday night.....it was a gorgeous sunset and had I known it was going to be this beautiful I would have jumped into my truck with my camera and son and headed off to snap a few. I did get a few from my window but the quality is not great. Here is one of the clouds...they are so beautiful!

sunset last night and then the moon.........Monday APRIL 21, 2008

and now for the moon.with the neighbor's trees outlined in front of it........it was gorgeous the last 2 nights! Like a harvest moon almost!
