I LOVE bagels....just try not to eat them very often. I had been craving them and there is no bagel shop around here and the ones at Krogers do NOT taste like the bagel shops or homemade...so I decided to make some. I really wanted PLAIN ones but did not have enough flour so I had to add milled flaxseed and dried onion to help stiffen the dough up!
and bagels are actually easy to make...just a lengthier process than most. You have to make the dough..let it rise.....then make the balls......let that rest for 30 more min....then boil that water.......make the bagel shapes.....let sit for 10 minutes while water comes to boil....then boil each for 2 minutes one side and 1 minute other side......then back for 20-25 minutes!
Because I don't know much about the digital cameras I have used over the years....and yet I am able to take photographs. I have never made it through my entire instruction manual for any of my cameras. I started out with a little cheap 1MP camera.....and progressed from there. I still only have a 5MP Lumix.
Can I explain much about the settings I use or how I captured the shots I have? No, not really. Does that negate the value of the photo? No, not really. They are what they are and can more than stand alone based on their own value.
I want this blog to inspire and encourage even those who think they are clueless or a "dummy" when it comes to taking pictures to just get out there and DO IT! After all if I can get these shots....I am pretty sure you could too!

I bet they are chewy and taste great with melted butter?
oh yes they are good plain or toasted and with or without butter
I think it's really cool you made bagels. I understand that it's hard to make. Yours look perfect!
