To answer your question about the carpet, I left the following under your comment on my blog...

Yes, Melinda, I do remember the carpet and the tile. By the way did you know the original tile was asbestos (That lung damaging stuff)? The carpet was yucky. Dogs peed, pooped and puked on it and spilled food, plus 5 kids peeing and puking; and then there were all sorts of things that creeped and crawled and were smashed, squashed and stomped — these were all in that old carpet and it had the color of moldy coconuts.; September 9, 2008 at 7:03 AM

WHY the name PHOTOGRAPHY FOR DUMMIES?

Because I don't know much about the digital cameras I have used over the years....and yet I am able to take photographs. I have never made it through my entire instruction manual for any of my cameras. I started out with a little cheap 1MP camera.....and progressed from there. I still only have a 5MP Lumix.

Can I explain much about the settings I use or how I captured the shots I have? No, not really. Does that negate the value of the photo? No, not really. They are what they are and can more than stand alone based on their own value.

I want this blog to inspire and encourage even those who think they are clueless or a "dummy" when it comes to taking pictures to just get out there and DO IT! After all if I can get these shots....I am pretty sure you could too!
